July 27, 2010 Thanks to everyone who attended Bernina Club yesterday.
There was definitely a full house. Hopefully everyone enjoyed the project ideas
and the extra holiday savings offered. The Show and Tells were beautiful and
motivational. Only 151 days to Christmas!!!!!
Karen Carter's "All That Glitters" class for Sat. July 31 still has space available. See a picture of this glitzy wallhanging on our webpage or stop in the store to see it in person. It really is much better when you see it up close and personal. And yes, you can do this. It would make a wonderful Christmas gift for someone special--hint, hint. All About ME(machine embroidery) will meet for the month of August on Friday the 6th. This Bernina sponsored webcast will have information on applique with your embroidery machine. It really is easy when you know the proper techniques. Join us at 10:45 to be seated and ready for the 11:00am program. Cost is $15.00 and you will receive a CD with all the information presented.
We are continuing to participate in this worthwhile project. A Different Touch is proud to join Ginny Baillargeon, a Virginia Beach school teacher in a community service project with her students. ConKerr Cancer has donated more than 24,000 pillowcases to sick children across the US and Canada. Pick a fun fabric from your stash or come in and purchase the materials to create your own. We are a collection point so let's see how many pillowcases we can add to this worthwhile endeavor. To make a Pillowcase:
Supplies: 3/4 yd fabric for the body 1/3 yd for the border Sewing Instructions: 1. Cut the body of the case 26 1/2" x 40 1/2" and the border 10 1/2" x 40 1/2". 2. Fold the border in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press. 3. Place the right side of the border on the right side of the body of the case. Stitch together using a 1/2" seam allowance. 4. Place right sides together of the pillowcase. Stitch down the side and across the bottom. 5. Turn to the right side and press. Note: Please wash pillowcase and place in a quart size ziplock bag for the protection of the oncology children. |
